Customer service is important, and it is important in whatever line of business you are in. Here at Motivators we take our customer service very seriously and always treat our customers as we ourselves would like to be treated. Many companies can not say the same thing. Throughout my own life experiences I can tell you there is a specific company that might supply cable service as well as Internet service to the 5 Boroughs (that may use a cartoon bird as their symbol of "speed") that I have had nightmare experiences with as far as customer service goes. Bad customer service can lose you even your best customers and clients. Though in Bank of America's case, in theory, it can lose them much more. As Reuters reported last week,
" Dalton Chisolm in August sued the largest U.S. bank and its board, demanding
that "1,784 billion, trillion dollars" be deposited into his account
the next day. He also demanded an additional $200,164,000, court papers
show."
The lawsuit states Chisolm had called a Bank of America in New York numerous times and recieved "inconsistant information from a Spanish womn"(his words/spelling, not mine). He also claims that checks have been rejected because of incomplete routing numbers. Just to put it in perspective, without the $200,164,000, Chisolm is asking for $17,840,000,000,000,000,000,000 from Bank of America.
Now at the end of the day,in all likelyhood, this case will be dismissed. However it is worth noting, not all publicity is good publicity and in a time where most banks already don't have the love of the everyday American citizen you don't want to have the reputation of the bank with the bad customer service. There are tons of low cost promotional products a bank can giveaway to customers having difficulties to avoid them making trillion dollar lawsuits. If you want to keep it bank related go with the checkbook holders I talked about a few weeks ago, or maybe a promotional piggy bank to make them smile. It doesn't even need to be bank related, maybe a promotional calendar or a promotional tote bag. Banks need to realize, when times are tough, people don't neccessarily see banks as their friends. So whether you are a bank or cable service provider good customer service goes a long way.
