I know. I'm well aware it's football season and not baseball season. However, for the New York Mets the most important part of their year started once the last morsel of ticker tape landed on the ground after the parade for whatever team it was won the World Series this year. As any Mets fan (and most Motivators employees) will tell you, it has not been pretty being a Mets fan over the last few years. This past year in fact was, to put it bluntly, downright disgraceful. That's a problem when you are the New York Mets and you just opened up a stadium worth almost a billion dollars, and no one wants to go see your product. One of the biggest sources of revenue for the team, obviously, is ticket sales. The biggest source of ticket sales revenue? Well thats season ticket holders. So, the question is, how do you get people to plunk down thousands of dollars for a product that, when it was last seen was nauseating? Well, you might expect me to give an answer here but that question is yet to be answered, but the Mets are not without their own answer. The keyword for them thusfar has been, "benefits". They are offering in-depth guided tours by "the Mets front office" for last year's season ticket holders, access to the stadium's clubs, as well something called '"Take the Field With the Mets" Days. The problem that I see is that as nice as these things sound they aren't tangible benefits. This is the Mets opportunity to really show fans that they care and appreciate them. For example, the Ultimate Stadium Seat, not only will it give season ticket holders a more comfortable seat but there is a pocket for reading material for when the Mets blow the game in the 1st or 2nd innings! They can combine that with a Stadium Blanket to make even the worst Mets losses seem comfortable! With a nice promotional seat cushion and promotional stadium blanket who cares what the score is if you are comfortable! All it takes is a little creativity on the Mets part and I'm sure they can show their fanbase how much they care, and how much they feel their pain.
