I love Best Buy and I don't care who knows it. I know that I can depend on the Geek Squad to help me with my camera problems (and by help I mean they just keep giving me new ones whenever mine decides to break) and I know that on the day of a DVD release, they usually sell it for a ridiculously discounted price. I know for the most part the staff is extremely helpful and lest we not forget, that for us Chuck fans without Best Buy, there would be no "Buy More." And while I do prefer the term "Nerd Herd" over Geek Squad, Best Buy reigns supreme.
A few weeks ago, Anthony blogged about the new Stop N Shop logo, and how it will print better on products since it can easily be changed into a one color logo without losing any of its appeal. I thought of it when I looked at my reciept. It's true. So with that in mind, while searching for interesting stuff on the 'net this morning, I came across the new Best buy logo. I haven't yet seen it in person, and while I barely dabble in the graphic arts (I can crop an image, but I leave the vectoring to the pros) I can already tell that Best Buy has made a wise re-branding decision.
Here's what the original logos looked like back in the day. Fun fact, before Best Buy was best Buy, it was called Sound of Music. Go figure.
Here's the logo as we know it now...
And here's the new one! Just by looking at it, I can envison it on promotional products. I can see it so perfectly on promotional pens. It'll look classy on corporate gifts.
Clearly this one can be printed much easier and not lose any of its graphic goodness. I'm sure Anthony could have said that far better than I, but alas I am but the grasshopper when it comes to graphic arts. I bow to you Sensei. I have much to learn.
