4 Days and Counting...

January 2, 2009 05:33 by Sarah

Until one of the best comedies returns to the airwaves. I know everyone's been talking about trade show giveaways, and while I know it's that time of year, I just had to talk about this. I have been looking forward to January 6th for quite some time now, and it seems like every day that day just gets a little sweeter. Firstly, brand new episode of NCIS, my favorite show ever. Law and Order SVU will be back at 10PM for more crime fighting, murder solving goodness. At 11PM, I'll be switching over to TBS to catch up with Leslie Pool and the gang at Greens 'n Grains on the season premiere of 10 Items or Less. (Think The Office, but in a super market!) And while I'm super excited about that show, it's not what I'm talking about. And if you've paid attention, you can see that I'm free during the 9PM hour. Oh contraire mon amies. I am VERY much occupied. You see, at 9PM...

SCRUBS RETURNS TO ABC!!!!

Scrubs is a favorited show among several Motivators employees, but the biggest Scrubs fan has got to be Anthony in IT. You may think he's loyal to Lost, but when it comes to comedies, he happily turns to the staff of Sacred heart to provide him with merriment. Two years ago, when he was in the Art Department, and Mike was hired, he affectionately took to calling Mike "Newbie" (just like Dr. Cox called JD.) And he's been known to rant on occasion. (Anyone who reads his blogs knows that Anthony can talk!) And two Halloweens ago, no one was surprised when he walked in dressed at Dr. Cox.

So for all you Scrubs fans out there, I headed over to CafePress to find some great Scrubs promotional items. Because CafePress is just like Motivators, except other people have already come up with the clever imprints so you don't have to! On to the promos and I've selected one for each of the true Scrubs fans in IT.

First up, Anthony. A classic Dr. Cox quote if ever there was one

For the other Sarah in IT...the double Frick shirt. She often utters this word when something goes astray... (like she just did)

For Mike...we all saw this one coming. (Note: this could also apply to Carolina, as she is just getting into the Scrubs obsession. That's what you get when you share an office with two Scrubs fanatics.)

For me...an homage to the classic episode. Because one hasn't lived, until one has witnessed a Cool Cats performance.

Really, the truth of the matter is that you can imprint a Scrubs quote on several different promotional items and the true fans will get it and understand. It'll be memorable and it'll be treasured. Just like JD's treasured pencil given to him by Dr. Cox. And I know that many of you out there don't understand that reference, but you all should. Because Scrubs is awesome and when it comes back on Tuesday night, I'll be ready.

Self Help Book Written by 9yr Old to Become Movie

December 9, 2008 08:34 by Sarah

Meet Alec Greven. He's a best selling author of the book "How to Talk to Girls" and Fox Studios just bought the rights to turn it into a movie. The deal was in the low to mid six figures. Books that turn into movies aren't that impressive and certainly something that's in the mid to low six figures isn't worthy of being front page news on Yahoo. So what's the big deal? You see Alec Greven...is a 4th Grader from Colorado.

According to the official story from Yahoo:

"Greven wrote "Girls" as a handwritten, $3 pamphlet sold at his school book fair; he wrote it after he noticed his peers were having some trouble talking to the ladies, though the book is geared for all ages. Among this advice: Comb your hair and don't wear sweats; control your hyperness and cut down on sugar if necessary; a crush is like a love disease that can drive you mad; it is easy to spot pretty girls because they have big earrings, fancy dresses and all the jewelry but are like cars that need a lot of oil."

When I was 9, I wasn't that productive. I certainly didn't do anything that would garner me a movie deal. Although now that I think about it, my 1st grade class did write an interesting cook book that probably would have made the NY Times best seller list. I still remember my mother being mad at me because I wrote that "My recipe is front my Aunt Sue because my mom doesn't cook, she just sits on the couch and watches soap operas." Also worthy, my class mate Michael forgot to actually get a recipe for Chocolate Chip cookies, so his page instructed future culinary connoisseurs to put balls of dough in the microwave and cook on medium for 7 hours.

Unfortunately, our little book did not become a best seller but I think I'm okay with that. Congrats to this kid for making it happen. Now if he can get some good promotional products made, he'll be golden.

Awesomeness

December 2, 2008 05:40 by Sarah

Thanks to Jen, I've recently become addicted to the show How I Met Your Mother. Some episodes are funnier than others, but Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson is a staple that works even when the rest of the show isn't making me laugh as hard as it could. The writers make him hilarious with his womanizing ways and the fact that he is 100% self absorbed. Giving him lines like "Dear God...Whaddup?" and monolgues about how much bimbos truly mean to him work perfectly and NPH delivers every joke right on cue. During one of our discussions about HIMYM (that's the acronym the cool kids use apparently), Jen mentioned that she really wanted the motivational poster that hangs behind Barney's desk. Unlike typical Motivational posters, this one was custom made and it reads "Awesomeness." Beneath that, the text reads: "When I get sad, I stop be sad and be awesome instead. True Story. ~ Barney Stinson." Leave it to Cafe Press to have it. Seriously that site has any promotional items you could ever want from any show ever. It's fantastic. And just for Jen...

I Got a Fever...

November 19, 2008 04:14 by Sarah

After watching Justin Timberlake's hilarious bit on SNL this weekend, I went in search of some awesome SNL promotional products. After all, who can forget Molly Shannon's Mary Katherine Gallagher or Adam Sandler singing the Hanukkah song? SNL has had quite a few classic moments over the years, even recently with Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin. I personally was a huge fan of the "Mark Wahlberg talks to Animals" sketch with Andy Samberg, and even more of a fan of the fact that mark Wahlberg actually came on and made fun of himself by talking to a donkey. The statement, "Say hello to ya motha for me" will never be the same and I'm sure I will smile everytime I hear it. And then of course, Justin is most famous for his SNL skit involving a rather unique holiday gift suggestion. (Sidenote: one can get a "box" kit on SNL's website or a promotional magnet that details the, um, "gift giving" process.) However, even though they've got some great promotional merchandise, I personally love this one. It's a blast from the past, but everyone should remember it. I personally have fond memories of sitting in our break room at the old office and hearing Jesse imitate Chistopher Walken, proclaiming that he had a fever. And the only prescription was...more cowbell.

And of course, if you need to fill your prescription, Motivators is happy to be your personal supplier. We've got all the promotional cowbells you could possibly want!

More Office

November 17, 2008 06:42 by Laurie

You probably will not believe me but on Thursdays episode (11/13/08) of The Office, the first skit has Dwight taking down notes on the Leeds Windsor Reflections Jotter Item# 3059! I must admit I got a little too excited about it and rewound just to make sure. It gave me a strange sense of excitement that an item we sell is on one of my favorite TV shows. As a result I suggest two things. One, watch The Office, and two, buy a jotter! They are extremely useful!

30 Rock's Interesting Promotion

November 17, 2008 03:34 by Sarah

Now, aside from humor, I don't actually know what the purpose of this is or why they would want to associate Alec Baldwin with toilet paper, but here it is. Alec Baldwin toilet paper. You know, for all you stalkers out there that absolutely love Alec baldwin and must have anything and everything Alec related. Clearly this is a collector's piece. I wonder if this was Alec approved or not. Definitely one of the weirdest yet funniest promotional products I've ever seen.

The Nerd Herd

October 21, 2008 05:29 by Sarah

This past weekend, I spent some time with the family and caught up with one of my favorite shows, Chuck. I bought Season One on DVD, sat on the couch, ate some wings, and laughed a lot. Chuck is one of my absolute favorite shows and I'm loving it this season. With Halloween just around the corner, I'm still up in the air about what to be. I was debating being Abby from NCIS,a nd I might still go that route, but I checked out NBC's website and realized that I could totally go as one of the Nerd Herders from Chuck! For those of you that don't watch the show, Chuck works at the Buy More (think Best Buy) in the Nerd Herd (think Geek Squad). The costume would be simple. Black pants, a white button down short sleeve shirt and a skinny tie. The best thing is that NBC.com now has a selection of Chuck promotional merchandise that you can get. I could keep my keys on a promotional lanyard...

I could let everyone know who I am with a promotional badge holder

And I could drink my coffee out of a Buy More promotional mug...

While I do love Abby from NCIS, considering the fact that no one in this office watches the show, I think I'd have more luck going with the Nerd Herd route. Plus, I am in the IT department...

National Stay at Home Week: Night #4

September 25, 2008 03:30 by Sarah

Thursday Night: 9/25

Survivor Gabon- Earth's Last Eden, CSI (CBS)

My Name is Earl, The Office, ER (NBC)

Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy (ABC)

Personally, I think that it's going to be a tough call between ABC and NBC tonight. Comedy night done right has some competition with the Ugly Betty and Grey's fans. Both Earl and The Office are boasting one hour season premieres, before the final season premiere of ER (thank goodness, the show jumped the shark when they killed off Lucy). But Ugly Betty and Grey's have some fans in this office (most specifically Carolina, who is super psyched for the season premiere of Grey's tonight). And I've been focused on so the general around the house type of promotional products that you could use to help get you through premiere week, I forgot all about logoed merchandise! Well, let me make up for that then.

Grey's fans can sip some hot cocoa tonight out of a Grey's Anatomy promotional mug, or if they fancy a stronger beverage, ABC.com is also selling Grey's Anatomyl beer steins.

Earl fans can enjoy a beverages as well with a My Name is Earl beverage set including promotional shot glasses and promotional bottle openers.

And then you can get ready for bed in some ER promotional scrubs. Back in the day, I loved ER (more like I loved Noah Wyle) and I owned those. Awfully comfortable.

Speaking of promotional merchandise...New Kids on the Block didn't disappoint me at all last night! They had some interesting things for sale, most of it being promotional apparel. I caved and bought a tour t-shirt (how could I not? It's New Kids!) and I was happy to see that NKOTB was doing their part to help support the fight against breast cancer. They were selling promotional apparel, emblazoned with the pink ribbon because Danny Wood's mother died of the disease. I would have supported the cause if they'd had a promotional t-shirt with that on it, but their item of choice? Fitted tank tops. Personally, I think t-shirts would have been a better call. Regardless, the show rocked and I have to agree with our prep supervisior Kristen's sister, who said that it was the best concert she'd ever been to. Especially since one memorable piece of apparel made it back from the 80s. It wasn't Donnie's ripped jeans or Jonathan's loafers (which he always wore with white socks). Nope, it was something far better and definitely recognizable. In fact, even Sarah got excited when I showed her the picture this morning. Ladies and gentleman, I give to you...the return...of Joey Mac's smiley face jacket!

National Stay at Home Week: Night #3

September 24, 2008 04:10 by Sarah

Wednesday Night 9/24:

The New Adventures of Old Christine, Gary Unmarried, Criminal Minds, CSI NY (CBS)

Knight Rider, America's Got Talent, Lipstick Jungle (NBC)

Bones,  Til Death, Do Not Disturb (Fox)

Dancing with the Stars (ABC)

It's Wednesday. It's hump day. And it's night three of National Stay at home week. Hopefully, those bag clips are keeping the potato chips extra crunchy and the promotional water bottles are making sure that you have everything you need for the ultimate snacking sessions during your favorite TV shows. Last night,  all the NCIS fans (you know the 16,999,999 of you that are not in this office) got a super awesome premiere and I was not disappointed. SVU though, not so much. I won't reveal plot lines, but Luke Perry is not the stellar super stud he once was. Kudos for him for not falling prey to the Hollywood standards of pumping up his face with poison to alievate the wrinkles, but a little Botox? It's like a wrinkly Dylan McKay with thinning hair.

Anywho, tonight you can all enjoy night three of Dancing with the Stars also known as crazy Cloris Leachman dropping the f-bomb and proving she's overly flexible. If you're looking for comedy, I'm sure CBS won't disappoint with their season and series premieres. Fox can be the backup for the comedy route. And over on NBC you can enjoy Knight Rider and think back to the days when David Hasselhoff was the one driving, also known as the good days.

I'm in the mood for a flashback of my own this evening and that's why I will be boycotting National Stay at Home Week Night #3 to go see the New Kids on the Block in concert. The day I've been waiting for since I was 7 is finally here. I'm sure I'll have the dirt on all the promotional products that they'll be selling there although I've already spoiled myself and found out that t-shirts are $45. Here's hoping for the t-shirt vendor in the parking lot!

National Stay at Home Week: Night #2

September 23, 2008 05:05 by Sarah

Tuesday Night: 9/23

NCIS, The Mentalist, Without a Trace (CBS)

The Biggest Loser 6, Law and Order-SVU (NBC)

House, Fringe (Fox)

Opportunity Knocks, Dancing with the Stars (ABC)

So I've heard some wonderful things about the Heroes premiere last night and don't worry, I will not be spoiling any of you. And that's solely because I didn't watch it, so I have no idea what happened. I will tell you however that during the last five minutes of Chuck I uttered an explictative that will not be repeated here. It was good stuff. And I still love Barney on How I Met Your Mother. So last night's wonderful television premieres aside, we move on to tonight or as I like to call it the day I've been waiting for for months!

I love me some NCIS. And I've said this before. Back on May 22, I blogged about how distraught I was over the season finale because I thought with the break-up of the team, the producers were pulling another House. Of course, I love the internet and I found confirmation from the exec producer Shane Brennan that the team will be back together. However, it doesn't make it any easier to watch the promos with the song "Breakin' Up is Hard to Do" playing in the background. If anything, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for 8 o'clock tonight. Seriously, ask Carolina and Sarah. I just squeaked I was so excited.

So, another dramatic night. I'm thinking that instead of promotional stress relievers, I'd choose some fun putty. I've got an egg full of it on my desk and it's actually quite good at relieving the stress. Additionally, I'm going to be watching Luke Perry and Christopher Meloni (thank you to whoever did that) on the season premiere of Law and Order SVU. It's always important to keep yourself well hydrated during these exciting premieres as well, and for the ladies out there when there's a bevy of attractive men on the television, it's easy to get a little parched. (Cough cough, Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, Luke Perry Christopher Meloni). I reccommend promotional water bottles.

My reccomendations aside, happy national stay at home week night #2 to everyone! Enjoy the shows!
